Healing Waves Surfboard

Myself and a few other artists were gathered by a Jersey charity, Healing Waves, to unleash our imagination on old surfboards in hopes to raise money for the amazing work they do.

Healing Waves help disabled children learn to surf, giving them freedom and confidence using water therapy. For my design I decided to channel this sense of freedom that HW clients have quoted to feel, by using bold colours and dramatic lines. I also painted the 3 fins that came with the board and framed them to try and raise as much money as possible.

Go on over to Healing Waves website and check out all of the fantastic work they do: healingwaves.org.je

I decided to first create my design digitally, and then paint my illustration onto the board using Posca paint pens.

“ When planning the design of my surfboard, I knew I wanted to celebrate the amazing work that ‘Healing Waves’ does, so I focused my design on how the charity affects many individuals experience with ocean therapy.

There are so many beneficial properties that come from fully immersing yourself in nature, and when it comes to the sea it can feel amazing.

I wanted to channel the sensation of freedom that I personally feel when I am in the water into my design, and with the use of bold lines and bright colours, give it energy and power.”
